Description of Classes
We offer classes for individuals as well as groups. The descriptions of classes for both are as follows:
Individuals
For individuals we offer two classes: Basic / Intermediate or Intermediate/ Advanced.
Basic/Intermediate Handgun
This class is for those persons, 14 years old or older who have little or no experience with a handgun or experienced shooters who have not been extensively trained in the skills of drawing quickly from a holster, reloading quickly, and engaging multiple targets. Minors must have parents or a guardian present for the course. The course covers weapon safety, maintenance, concealed carry, tactics, holster techniques and of course shooting skills. The students will shoot both revolvers and semi-autos supplied by the school. They will do extensive shooting with one as well as two hands and will be taught flashlight and night shooting techniques. The students will shoot in excess of 2500 rounds of handgun ammunition, supplied by the school. The class starts at 6:30 PM on a Sunday night with a mandatory lecture and safety briefing and ends the following Friday at 12:00 Noon. The school supplies all the necessary equipment except a belt and eye protection. The students should bring appropriate clothing for the season, comfortable shoes and a well fitting belt. A regular 1.25” to 1.5” standard dress belt thickness is preferred. Heavy-duty, thick, tactical type belts will not work well with our issue equipment. You will be required to bring and wear eye protection. If you require prescription glasses, please insure that your dominant eye can focus clearly on the front sight of a handgun extended at arm's length. For further understanding please read our book, “Be Fast, Be Accurate, Be the Best”, paying particular attention to pages 76 and 102. Do not arrive at the school and expect to do well if you cannot clearly see the front sight of your handgun instantly while pointing at a spot with both eyes open. Bifocal or transition lenses will not work!

Intermediate/ Advanced
The Intermediate/Advanced Class is reserved for more experienced shooters. For the I/A Class, you should be already capable of safely drawing with hands at chest level as a start position and placing a hit on an upper torso target at 10 yards in less than 2 seconds. You should also be able to reload from shot to shot in less than 4 seconds. This class is also for those military or police trained shooters who are experienced but have never been to the Rogers Shooting School. The I/A Class is also recommended for those former Rogers students who have not achieved an advanced rating.
Optional shoulder weapon with Intermediate/Advanced Pistol Class
Depending on the class, an optional combat shotgun course or an urban carbine class is available every afternoon. The students are responsible for all of their shooting equipment and ammunition, although arrangements for supply can be made through the school. Loaner school shoulder weapons are available for those who opt for the optional shotgun. School carbines designed to use 9MM ammunition are provided for the carbine instruction. Each student will shoot approximately 2500 rounds of handgun ammunition and at least 500 rounds of shotgun ammunition if the optional shotgun program is taken. Approximately 800 rounds of 9MM will be required for the optional carbine class. All students other than military units must use a copper plated bullet or a frangible bullet. The copper jacket on standard ball ammunition poses a serious risk of separating from the lead core and deflecting back on the shooter. Please see the paragraph on ammunition on the Frequently Asked Questions page.

Groups
Our standard five-day class was originally designed for our military customers. It is now available for any group with a minimum of 12 students. It has always focused on the handgun with the shotgun or submachine gun as secondary program. We now offer a CQB Rifle Class program taught concurrently with our handgun class that teaches the same high-speed fundamentals. We instruct the handgun every day from 0900 to 1630 hours. We instruct the secondary weapon, shotgun, sub-gun, or carbine from 1630 to 1800 hours. The students are tested each day to plot progress. On the fourth day of the program we include a night shoot that starts at dusk and continues for another two hours. Our program starts with a mandatory lecture and a safety briefing on Sunday evening at 1830 hours and ends the following Friday at 1200 hours. In our standard military group class each student shoots about 2500 rounds of handgun ammo. The optional shotgun program requires 500 rounds. The Shotgun ammo is divided up with 400 rounds of bird or target loads and 100 rounds of 00 Buck. If the secondary weapon is a carbine or rifle, 800 rounds of 9MM ammo are also required. See our page on Rifle Class for further information. Group classes can be modified to suit the desires of the contracting group. We can supply handguns, shotguns, ammunition and all other necessary equipment including eye and ear protection and holsters for an entire group. We can successfully teach a group that has never seen a firearm before or the most advanced group of a special military unit. Please visit our page titled Philosophy to get a better understanding about what we actually teach. Also visit our page titled Pricing for a complete breakdown of the cost of our programs and services.
We also offer a three-day stand alone rifle-carbine program that incorporates both our close quarters reactive target range with our long distance reactive target range. Our long distance rifle targets will handle standard ball ammo but the green tip ammo has proved to be destructive.
