Bill Rogers owns the M.O.E. lodge. The lodge is located in Ellijay, Georgia, a few miles from our range.
To navigate to the lodge from Atlanta, follow I-75 North of Marietta and take exit #268 to I-575, toward Canton. After about 30 miles, and past Canton, I-575 becomes State Road #5, Route 5, or 515. Continue north about 25 miles following the signs to Ellijay.
You will pass a Super Wal-Mart on your right and about two miles after you will come to East Ellijay. There will be a traffic light. To the right of the light will be a Burger King, and several other stores in a shopping center. To the left will be a McDonalds, Stratford Motel, Movie Theater and some more stores in another shopping center.
Continue on Route 5 (515) and turn left at the next traffic light. You will see signs that say #52 and #2. You will cross the Cartecay River on a new bridge. There will be a Hardee's on your left just before the bridge. After you cross the bridge you will dead end into State road #52 and #2. Turn right on #52 east and drive for about 5 miles and turn right onto Lower Cartecay Road.
Lower CartecayRoad intersects #52 East on a curve and about 60 yards past an apple store named "Oak Hill Apples". Lower Cartecay Road only goes to the right or south and it turns sharply and goes down hill. At night it is difficult to see until you pass the road. Turn right on the Lower Cartecay Road and drive about a mile. Turn right on a newly paved road (Adventure Trail) that has a sign advertising the Mountain Town Expedition Center. Go about 300 yards and turn right again at the M.O.E. entrance. Drive past the canoes and the outfitter store to the building with white siding, which is our lodge.
